Sunday School
All children and youth – from kindergarten through high school – are welcome to participate in our Sunday School classes. Instruction takes place every Sunday 9:45 – 11 a.m. and begins in the sanctuary with the start of the worship service. Following a special children’s message from the pastor, the children attend their age-level classes. Our caring teachers use the lectionary-based curricula “Seasons of the Spirit” to provide an interesting, informative and enjoyable Sunday School experience. Nursery care for infants through age 4 is provided during the entire worship service.
Our children also conduct mission projects to benefit those in need both locally and internationally. For example, in one recent mission effort, the RUMC Sunday School raised money to help increase the water supply at a school in Africa. The children also have provided personal hygiene products for U.S. troops serving overseas, and have donated diapers and other baby products for the local Baby Basics program of Children’s Aid and Family Services.
Special RUMC activities for children include weekly music instruction, participation in worship services, UNICEF fundraising, Christmas craft making, an Easter egg hunt and a church-wide Child Recognition Day.

Sunday School Supports Heifer International
The Sunday School is now supporting Heifer International in its latest mission project. The congregation as a whole and the co-op nursery school also are invited to support this worthwhile cause.
The goal of the Sunday School project is to raise $5,000 which will fill an entire "ark" with animals. The animals -- ranging from pigs and cows to chickens and camels -- are given to needy families around the world. The families receive training to learn how to use the animals as a sustainable source of food and income. Recipients share offspring of gift animals to others in need. The overall goal of Heifer International is to end world hunger.
Financial donations to the project can be non-specific or for a particular animal. For example, a contribution of $500 can be used to purchase a heifer, $850 will buy a camel, $30 a beehive, and $60 a trio of rabbits. Additional details and an "ark" are located in the back of the sanctuary. The project will run through June.
