Pig for Sale; Other Animals Needed for Ark
There is still plenty of opportunity to help fill an ark for Heifer International. The Sunday School mission project will conclude at the end of June and, as of early May, about $1,000 have been raised. The project goal is to raise $5,000 to fill an ark full of animals.
The animals -- ranging from pigs and cows to goats and guinea pigs -- are given to needy families around the world. The families receive training to learn how to use the animals as a sustainable source of food and income. Recipients share offspring of gift animals to others in need. The overall goal of Heifer International is to end world hunger.
The Sunday School invites the congregation as a whole and the co-op nursery school to support this worthwhile cause.
Financial donations to the project can be non-specific or for a particular animal. For example, a contribution of $500 can be used to purchase a heifer, $850 will buy a camel, $150 a llama, and $20 a flock of geese. Part of an animal can be purchased as well. Additional details and an "ark" are located in the cloisters.
We need workers for the vineyard! Well, not the vineyard exactly, but for a Habitat for Humanity work day on Saturday, June 2. This is a Women Build work day, so it's Ladies Only this time around. Would you like to get involved in something that really makes a difference in our world? Join us as we help to build a house for a low-income, hard-working family in Paterson. We work side by side with the homeowners. Sometimes we paint, sometimes we climb on scaffolding and put siding in place, once we even did insulation (although we hope we never have to do that again, right, ladies?). There are professionals on site to help guide the work and teach us the skills we need to do the job, and at the end of the day (which comes at about 2:30 or 3:00), we leave with a great feeling of accomplishment! Please join us. Contact Jane Harlin at jcharlin@aol.com or 201-447-1968 for more information or to join the team.

Happy Birthday to all the May Birthdays!
May's birthstone is the Emerald and the flower is Lily of the Valley.
The Lily of the Valley is also known as Our Lady's tears because according to legend the tears that Mary shed at the cross turned into Lily of the Valley flowers.
