RIDGEWOOD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
A socially conscious Christian community putting our faith into action!
December 15, 2013
Third Sunday of Advent
PRELUDE: Andante tranquillo Peter Warlock
+CAROL: “Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates” No. 213
Source of light, we can be confused by the shadows, and misunderstand your vision. Shine out and remind us again that you glow in our darkness, even here, even now. Inspire us to respond by acting kindly. We want to do one more caring thing each day, one more pleasant word we can say to someone in our community today for in so doing we share your blessings. In so doing we do overcome darkness. Keep within us a faith that never fails to ask and always remembers that you are already with us: creating new opportunities, sorting possibilities, and healing our souls. We seek a Christmas filled with peace, joy, generosity, and love. Empower us to carry out gospel ministries. We would do our part saying yes to you and to others in need. Today, please inspire us so that our songs, prayers, and praises are filled with your Holy Spirit. We long to share the quiet hope that Mary carried, delivered, and pondered. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
